A thrown ball that falls through the top of the hoop will be counted as a point. Once the contestant has taken 10 throws, they will sit out and wait for the rest of the contestants to have their practice and 10 scored throws. When it is the contestants turn again, he/she will take the remaining 15 scored throws. If at anytime the contestant goes over the foul line for his/her age group while taking a scored shot, the throw will be counted as a miss regardless of the outcome of the throw. Judges scoring the event will record successful throws for each contestant, and give the results to the Local Hoop Shoot Director.
