Confederate Monument - Laurelwood Cemetery
North Face East Face South Face West Face
To the sacred memory
of the
Confederate Soldiers
who laid their lives
on the sacrificial
alter of their country.
They were defeated by
an overwhelming foe,
but were not conquered.
The righteousness of
their cause, State Rights,
will be vindicated by
prosperity.
Greater wars, perhaps the
world has known,
the fields of glory with
her best blood strewn,
but never legion strong,
or valiant clan
had cause more just,
more firmly held, than
our patriots true,
who wore the gray.
----------
Live on, in fadeless memory,
o loyal knighthood of the
fairest land that ever
suffered blight and wrong.
Erected 1922
under the auspices of
Ann White Chapter
United Daughters of the
Confederacy,
Assisted by
Kiwanis Club,
Rotary Club,
Chamber of Commerce,
and citizens of
Rock Hill, S. C.
Calm and noble in peace,
courageous and chivalrous
in war, true to the best
traditions of the south,
the Confederate Soldier
lives enshrined in the
hearts of his grateful
countrymen.
